This bums me out so bad because I’ll be taking my first student loans out this year.

Had to settle for Rutgers because family couldn’t afford paying for NYU (and loans were a big NO we agreed we couldn’t do it :( ).

Even though being a white middle-class suburban American has a lot of privileges, the upper-class still has a lot of advantages and privileges that other classes don’t have access to. Which often includes getting into expensive colleges without relying on a single loan.

But my heart goes out to everyone who relies on loans just to go through college. It already feels pretty unfair for a middle-class white kid, but I can’t imagine how brutal it must be for families who can’t even afford in-state tuition. That’s totally fucked up, and the industry could give less of a fuck about how many lives they’re ruining.
